Our Story

The Ridges & Rivers Book Festival was born during a fateful falafel lunch when a librarian, a writer, and an editor expressed their mutual dream of creating an event that would celebrate reading, writing, and creativity as well as strengthen and showcase our wonderful community. From there, the Ridges & Rivers Book Festival was launched. Our inaugural event in 2023 featured more than 30 presenters and authors, and 1,000-plus attendees. The 2024 event was even bigger. And the 2025 Ridges & Rivers Book Festival (now sponsored by Ridges & Rivers Inc.) promises to be equally exciting and entertaining with events that will appeal to a broad range of people. All of this is brought to you by endless volunteer hours and our generous financial donors. And, of course, the chickpeas.

A Special Thanks and Dedication

Lisa Henner

Lisa Henner has been an integral part of the Ridges & Rivers Book Festival since the beginning. This event would not have happened without her hard work and creativity—she’s been a major organizer of the first two events and the festival would not be where it is without her. To honor Lisa with special gratitude, we’d like to dedicate this year’s festival to her. Thank you, Lisa!
